The first is the easy route, standard tuning with a capo on the first fret, so you can get up and running fast with familiar shapes. The second is for anyone who wants to play it the way Ella does live. That's drop C# with no capo, using her chord shapes and tuning. One thing to note, when I play the second version I'm sticking to the chord progression from the studio recording. Ella sometimes switches things up a little when she plays live, so this is a mix of her live shapes with the original studio progression. Pick whichever version suits you, both sound great. Here's a fun one about this song. It might sound like a love story about a cowboy torn between two women, but Ella has said it's really a love story between a cowboy and his home state, with her always on the outside looking in. And the spark for the whole thing came from Miranda Lambert, who told Ella a story from her younger years about getting pulled over with a pet kangaroo in the passenger seat and clocking the officer's Texas plates. That turned into the line "She's from Texas, I can tell," which grew into the song. This one's a great country tune to add to your list, catchy as anything and a lot of fun to play once it's under your fingers.
