Description

Join me as I explore the historic treasures of western Maryland, starting in the charming waterfront community of Westport along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal. I walk the towpath of this historic canal that stretches 184.5 miles from Washington, D.C. to Cumberland, learning about its vital role in 19th-century commerce and transportation. I also cross the old railroad bridge spanning the Potomac River, offering stunning views and a tangible connection to the region's transportation heritage. From Westport, I drive down to one of the most significant Civil War battlefields in American history - Antietam National Battlefield in Sharpsburg, Maryland. September 17, 1862 marked the bloodiest single day in American history, and today this hallowed ground tells the story of sacrifice, courage, and the struggle that shaped our nation. I start at the excellent museum and visitor center, where artifacts and exhibits bring the battle to life. Then I drive and walk through the battlefield, visiting the powerful memorials that honor the soldiers who fought here from both North and South. The historic Dunker Church stands as a silent witness to the fierce fighting that swirled around it during the battle. Walking across the iconic Burnside Bridge is a moving experience. This stone bridge over Antietam Creek was the site of intense combat, and standing on it today, you can almost feel the weight of history beneath your feet. Whether you're a Civil War history enthusiast, planning an RV trip through Maryland, or simply appreciate America's historic sites and small towns, this journey offers a profound blend of natural beauty, transportation history, and American heritage. 👉More RVerTV 👉CHECK OUT RVerTV New WEBSITE https://rvertv.tv/ 👉Support RVerTV Click Right Here: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/uPhJL3S89 RVerTV AMAZON STORE...https://www.amazon.com/shop/rvertv #ad 👉Lectric Ebikes CLICK HERE https://lectricebikes.sjv.io/3P4Lad 👉WHAT DRONE I Use: DJI Air3S Pro Click HERE https://amzn.to/4goZsii 👉Drone School I Attended https://pilotinstitute.com/course/part-107-remote-pilot/?affcode=245841_hdjldyia 😎 LET'S CONNECT!: Facebook ... https://www.facebook.com/rvertv.tv Twitter... https://twitter.com/rvertv RVerTV Website.... : http://rvertv.tv/ Music Provided From: The YouTube Audio Library is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ On My Way Home - 126ers Twilight Train - Dan Lebowitz Nate Keefe Dude Where My Horse Audiio music license Artist Name: Adam Simons Song Name: Rain And Thunder (Instrumental) License #: 9094570297 Artlist Music Licensed by RVerTV https://artlist.io/Artlist Music Licensed by RVerTV https://artlist.io/russell-License Owner - russell License Number - 547533 Maps Provided by Google Reusing Or Redistributing Videos From The "RVerTV" Channel Must Have Permission From RVerTV Productions.
