STOP normalising obesity in dogs.

Heelers should not be fat. Overweight dogs, no matter how cute you think they are, are suffering. Yes, working lines are going to be leaner and leggier than stockier show lines. But even show lines should still be fit, well-muscled, and with a visible waist tuck. Overfeeding and under exercising your dog to the point of obesity is not okay. I shouldn’t have to clarify this but I will - if you have a dog that has a medical reason that is contributing to excessive weight OR you have an overweight dog and are actively working to help them, this is NOT an attack on you. This post is purely targeted at people who actively choose not to prioritise their dog’s health and wellbeing and like to keep their dog fat because it’s “cute”. To these people - please take the time to go educate yourself on what a fit and healthy dog of your chosen breed SHOULD look like. If you’re concerned your dog is overweight, seek help from an unbiased professional for your dog.
