Baby Humpback Breaching in Maui

A young humpback whale launches out of the water off the coast of Maui, Hawaiʻi in a beautiful breach. Maui’s warm winter waters are one of the most important nursery areas for North Pacific humpback whales. This is where mothers give birth, nurse their calves, and help prepare them for the long migration north.
