Description

It's been a few years since what feels like ChatGPT first hitting the mainstream. Although it wasn't the beginning of "AI", this felt like an important cultural moment because many people became aware of the possibilities (and potential dangers) of AI since then. Since then, I've been shown multiple different ways that AI might impact fitness and calisthenics in the future. Different startups come up with some honestly pretty creative ideas for fitness AI software products and wanted me to help advertise (I haven't agreed to any since I don't take sponsorships in general). While the ideas did seem fun, I wanted to see where this would go in a few years. I'm not a software engineer, but I do teach fitness and wanted to see which ideas floated to the top. Currently, I see a lot of people using text AI as an educational tool. Or they use it for brainstorming. This is ironic in some ways because tools like GPT are somewhat infamous for outputting "wrong" information. We've all seen the memes. However, even if the technology isn't 100% there yet, I feel like this has the potential to be how people learn deeper about many subjects (including fitness) in the future. It's funny, because fitness, in some ways, is quite far from software. You can have cool things to help you, but ultimately you have to do the movements, eat the food, and do the sleeps yourself. It's a very analogue practice. These are just some thoughts! I mostly use GPT as an example in this video, as it still feels like the most commonly used. I know there are other tools that delve into image, video, and audio. Some of them are just built on the hype, but others have some really interesting innovations. And, of course, some people have moral qualms with AI. I totally understand. If you never want to use AI in this context or any context, I get it. I'm not necessarily encouraging people to do this. This is just part of the trend I've been seeing. It may change in the next few years. All of this leads to an insight on human communication that I discuss in the video. I thought it was pretty cool.
