Description
This episode, I traveled to Halin Village in Wuchuan City, the southernmost part of mainland China. I was there to document the village’s once-a-year traditional massive banquet from start to finish.
Halin Village is known as the richest village in Wuchuan, home to multiple billionaires. The Nianli Festival falls on the 8th day of the first lunar month.
This banquet was jointly hosted by several families in the village. They set up 30 tables and invited 400 guests. A professional chef team had to efficiently prepare a huge amount of high-end dishes within just 8 hours. The entire process was intense, well-organized, and absolutely impressive.
The dishes served were all classic premium Cantonese cuisine, including roasted suckling pig, twice-fried capon, abalone in rich sauce, steamed sea shrimp, garlic vermicelli steamed scallops, steamed Threadfin, mackerel fish balls, morel mushroom and red date chicken soup, artemisia and cured pork glutinous rice, seafood stir-fried rice vermicelli, and many more. Every single dish was not only incredibly delicious and nutritious, but also quite expensive.
Come with me and immerse yourself in this luxurious traditional Guangdong village banquet!
