ANTHROPOCENTRIC This is a word for the week. Humans are anthropocentric - we default to what makes sense for humans, not for dogs. We assume our way of processing (words, gestures, immediate response) should also make sense to the animal. Once we recognise that these “mistakes” aren’t because owners are careless or stubborn, it is a cognitive default hardwired into how we communicate, it becomes easier to change.
