Description
Many people assume worship is heavy by nature.
But often it feels heavy because the heart is resisting — resisting discipline, or resisting sincerity.
In Episode 17 of Journey Into the Heart, Mufti Azeemuddin explores a beautiful reality: when the heart begins to open, obedience starts to feel different.
Not easy every day — but steady.
Allah describes this gift in the Qur’an:
هُوَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ السَّكِينَةَ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لِيَزْدَادُوا إِيمَانًا مَّعَ إِيمَانِهِمْ
“He is the One who sent down tranquility into the hearts of the believers so that they would increase in faith upon their faith.”
— Qur’an 48:4
The Prophet ﷺ described this as the sweetness of faith:
“Three qualities — whoever has them will taste the sweetness of faith…”
When Allah and His Messenger become more beloved than anything else…
When you love people for Allah’s sake…
And when returning to disbelief becomes as hateful as being thrown into the Fire.
What does that sweetness look like in real life?
• You’re still tired — but you don’t want to abandon salah
• You feel a pull toward Qur’an, even if it’s just a few lines
• Sin starts to feel uncomfortable again
• You begin preferring what pleases Allah over what pleases the nafs
And here’s the key: that sweetness often comes after effort.
You stand for prayer while tired… and then Allah places calm in your heart.
Because when Allah sends sakīnah into the heart, obedience stops feeling like a burden — and starts feeling like a lifeline.c
