Description
In classical watchmaking, it is up to the user to ‘feel’ the function that is engaged by pulling the crown outwards. For instance, when the crown is against the case, it is in the winding position, when pulled out one step, turning the crown changes the date, another step outward and the hours and minutes can be adjusted… To create a more user-friendly experience, in this case inspired by the gearboxes of Formula 1 racing cars, the Richard Mille function selector allows the user to shift between different functions using a pusher placed either at the center of the crown or on the caseband. An added benefit of this system is that the crown cannot accidentally be left in its extended position, which might allow water to enter the movement through the crown tube.
