In this video, you will get to know following:
1. The Power Conversion: AC to DC (Role of the SMPS)
As soon as you turn on the switch, the electricity first enters the SMPS (Switched-Mode Power Supply).
The Converter: Rectifiers and transformers inside the SMPS draw the 220V AC supply from your home and convert it into +3.3V, +5V, and +12V DC (Direct Current).
Power Good Signal: Once the SMPS determines that the voltage is perfectly correct and stable, it sends a "Power Good" signal to the Motherboard. The computer will not start until this signal is received.
2. The Brain Wakes Up: CPU & BIOS
As soon as it receives power, the Motherboard’s first task is to wake up the CPU.
Instruction Pointer: Upon waking, the CPU immediately looks towards the ROM (Read Only Memory) where the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) or UEFI is stored.
The Map: BIOS is the very first "executable" code that instructs the CPU on what to do next.
3. The Health Check: POST (Power-On Self-Test)
The BIOS first conducts a "Physical Exam" known as POST.
The Checklist: BIOS checks if the RAM is properly seated, if the Keyboard/Mouse are connected, and if the Graphics Card is functional.
The Beep: If everything is fine, the small speaker on the Motherboard emits a Single Short Beep (signifying "All Systems Go"). If any hardware is faulty, the BIOS emits beeps in different patterns (Beep Codes).
4. Setting the Stage: RAM & CMOS
Immediately after passing the POST:
CMOS: BIOS retrieves "System Settings" (Date, Time, Boot Order) from here.
RAM Initialization: The CPU now activates the RAM so that future data can be stored there.
5. Searching for the Soul: Boot Loader
Now that the BIOS knows the hardware is functional, it still doesn't know what task to perform.
Boot Priority: BIOS checks the location of the OS (Operating System)—is it on the Hard Drive (SSD/HDD) or a Pendrive?
MBR/GPT: BIOS reads the first sector (MBR) of the Hard Drive where the Boot Loader resides. This is a small program that "invites" the OS.
6. The Grand Entry: Loading the OS
The Boot Loader now begins loading Windows or Linux files from the Hard Drive into the RAM.
Kernel Loading: The most critical part of the OS (the Kernel) settles into the RAM and takes control of the hardware.
Drivers: The OS now starts all hardware drivers (Sound, Video, WiFi).
7. The Opening: GUI & Desktop
Finally, the OS displays the login screen.
Shell Execution: When you enter your password, the OS executes the graphical interface (Explorer.exe).
The Welcome: The Desktop appears, and all startup apps begin running in the background.
