Kids Thinking They've Found a New Extinct Animal (It's Just A Rock)

Yes, this indeed something which happened to myself when I was 9 and found a rather peculiar looking rock jutting out of a grassy verge. It was lodged in rather tightly, and so it was a real mission to get out, and in my young mind, I thought I was certainly to find a unique New Zealand trilobite species that had never been seen before. It certainly looked like one based off of the detailing on the rock which really did resemble to my eyes an obscured trilobite head and eyes, but on close inspection a few weeks later when I tried to prepare it did I find it wasn't much of anything after all! A valuable lesson to know what you're looking for and also to better pick out details of rocks before spending a lot of time trying to get at them.
