Description
Wahoo can often be very curious and friendly when they aren’t threatened or dived on. I’ve had multiple opportunities to watch them without a speargun in my hand and I’ve found they tend to hang around a lot longer than you’d think. @throwflashers are the perfect tool for sparking and holding their interest. Unlike species like Mahi Mahi which will often come flying in as soon as the flasher hits the water, Wahoo respond differently and will require more patience, as these slow sinking flashers are extremely effective, as long as you allow them to do their thing.
In this clip you can see the Wahoo hanging around and presenting plenty of chances to put a spear into. Too often when Wahoo rock up, divers get excited, throw the flasher, and dive straight away, which doesn’t give it the time to work and grab the attention of the fish. Bluewater hunting is all about patience. If you don’t have the patience, stick to reef hunting!
