Deep-sea Animals When A Whale Fall Happens

Once a whale carcass lands on the sea floor, they can sustain a local ecosystem for decades given their sheer size, and everything from their flesh, bones, and the lipids within are consumed during the decomposition process, where sharks, hagfish, clams, worms, and bacterias of all different varieties congregate to feast. There are even organisms thought to specialise exclusively on the presence of whale falls, which is also really amazing! There's still so much we don't know of course, including that aforementioned diversity of animals that feed on or live around them, so this is very much an active space.
