đŽ Lesson 2.3.1 Frequency Separation, Part 1
While the Frequency Separation technique (FS) is sometimes criticizedâoften for valid reasonsâit has a place in our retouching workflow for simplifying specific issues that are too time-consuming or not well-suited for basic retouching tools or Dodge & Burn.
In this video we examine two common variations of the FS setup: the Gaussian Blur vs. the Median Filter approach.
Most importantly, in the further lessons of the course, weâll focus on maximizing the benefits of using FS without falling victim to its drawbacks.
Weâll also introduce texture grafting, a technique weâll revisit in later lessons.
Even if youâre familiar with FS, we highly recommend watching these lessons, as the details discussed here will be reinforced throughout upcoming lessons.
