Secretary Bessent says U.S. may retake control of the Strait of Hormuz as President Trump warns Iran

On Monday, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the global oil market is well supplied and that maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz is increasing. President Donald Trump also reiterated a warning to Iran, saying that if it does not immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz to shipping, the United States would launch military strikes on Iranian infrastructure, including power plants, oil wells and the major oil export hub on Kharg Island.
