Description
Have you ever noticed how often we ask Allah to change our circumstances, yet forget to ask Him to guide and rectify us?
The Prophet (salal llāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) taught us this beautiful dua’:
“O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, in Your mercy I seek relief. Rectify all of my affairs for me, and do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye.”
What a powerful reminder.
We are weak without Allah.
Our plans, our intelligence, our efforts, and our strength can only take us so far.
The believer’s success is not in being self-sufficient, but in being dependent upon Allah.
And notice how this duʿā’ begins.
You call upon Allah through two of His magnificent Names: Al-Ḥayy (The Ever-Living) and Al-Qayyūm (The Sustainer of all things).
Then you say:
“Bi-raḥmatika astaghīth”
(In Your mercy, I seek relief.)
SubḥānAllāh.
You are calling upon Allah through His mercy.
Every blessing you have ever received was from His mercy.
Every hardship that was lifted was through His mercy.
Every dua’ that was answered was by His mercy.
What greater door can a servant knock upon than the door of Allah’s mercy?
Then you ask Allah to rectify all of your affairs—not only your problems, but your religion, your heart, your family, your provision, and your future.
And finally, you ask Allah not to leave you to yourself even for the blink of an eye.
Because every moment of goodness is only possible through His help.
May Allah envelop us in His mercy, rectify all of our affairs, guide our hearts, and never leave us to ourselves even for the blink of an eye.
