This film documents the best of 130 days I spent traveling though, and camping out in wild paces from Spring 2024 to late winter 2025. My adventures spanned all four seasons and took me from Northern Ontario, to the Yukon, to deep into the Arctic territory of Nunavut in Canada's far north.
My brother Ted joined me on many of these journeys. These include the backcountry Spring Trout fishing adventure in Algonquin Park, and our 20-Day Hood River expedition in the Arctic. Other adventures I did with my family. These include the six weeks we spent exploring the Yukon together, canoeing the Teslin River and then living out of three different off-grid cabins.
Most of my exploring in this film is done by canoe but I also explore picturesque mountain trails by ATV in the Yukon and ventured into the backcountry by snowmobile for winter camping, and to visit our own water access, off-grid cabin in Northern Ontario. Along the way, you'll see me run many challenging whitewater rapids on rivers as I navigate rivers that include the advanced level Dog River that pours into Lake Superior's remote North Shore, and the Hood River that dissect the Central Arctic Barren Grounds. Along the way, I tangle with huge Lake Trout (on both open water and by ice fishing), Arctic Grayling, Northern Pike, Brook (Speckled) Trout, Smallmouth Bass and more. I hunt deer and upland game birds such as grouse and ptarmigan, I portage for miles around massive canyons and between pristine backcountry lakes, and gaze at many Northern Lights displays to boot.
Though a lot of hard work, I've been lucky enough to have hacked out this life for myself. I do it so that I can feel free, and do the things I want to do in life. But it's not just about having fun, it's about answering the call of the wild, connecting with nature, and living life on my own terms. Enjoy the story of my year in the wild.
