I Went to Hell on Earth… You Won’t Believe This 😱

In this video we were taken by our amazing guide from Ashgabat the capital of Turkmenistan to the legendary Gate of Hell. The journey itself was an adventure like no other with off roading through deserts with almost no proper roads, battling strong storms and barely being able to see anything due to extremely low visibility. Somehow against all odds we made it to the fiery crater and witnessing it in person was truly surreal. The Gate of Hell also known as the Darvaza Gas Crater is a massive burning pit that was accidentally created by Soviet scientists in the 1970s. While drilling for natural gas the ground beneath their rig collapsed forming a huge crater. Fearing the spread of poisonous gases they set it on fire expecting it to burn out in a few weeks. Decades later it is still burning creating a mesmerizing and terrifying spectacle that looks like a gateway to another world. This also marks the last video of my Turkmenistan series.
