Welcome to another YachtWay Spotlight.
This 52ft yacht opens up to give you 20% more deck space. In this Spotlight we go aboard the Solaris Power 52 Open, the Italian-built motor cruiser that debuted at the 2024 Düsseldorf Boat Show and immediately turned heads for doing more with 52 feet than most builders manage at 65.
Solaris Power has been building yachts since 1974 and the 52 Open is the clearest expression yet of what fifty years of Italian engineering looks like when applied without compromise. The hull is infusion laid, heavy and strong, designed by Brunello Acampora of Victory Design with a deep V entry and a star-shaped bow that cuts through chop rather than slamming through it. At 28 knots cruise and a top speed of 35 knots on twin Volvo Penta IPS drives, this is a yacht that covers ground efficiently and arrives in comfort.
The feature that defines the 52 Open on deck is the fold-down bulwarks. At the touch of a button both sides open outward, expanding the usable cockpit area by 20% and transforming the boat from a protected cruiser into an open platform over the water. It is a feature you would normally expect on a 70-footer. The tender garage aft fits a Williams tender or eFoils with a dedicated lifting system capable of handling heavy water toys, keeping the swim platform clean and the stern uncluttered.
The walk-around flush deck gives unobstructed access from bow to stern, and the retractable sunroof over the saloon opens the entire main deck to the sky when conditions allow. Forward a dedicated lounge area gives guests a second outdoor space away from the cockpit, unusually generous for a 52-footer.
