CEASEFIRE ON BRINK? Iran fires fresh missiles at Israel in latest development after Lebanon strike

In a major development, Iran launched missiles toward Israel, despite an ongoing ceasefire b/w the two countries. Explosions were heard & sirens sounded on June 8 as the Israeli city of Haifa came under attack from missile launched from Iran. Iran launched missile towards Israel after Israeli strike in Southern Beirut on June 07. Israeli military officials said it had identified missiles launched from Iran and that its defense systems had intercepted them. Meanwhile, Israel struck the outskirts of Beirut on June 07, for the 1st time since U.S. announced a truce plan for Lebanon last week. Following strike in Beirut’s southern suburbs, Israeli PM Netanyahu & Defense Min Katz released statement. PM Netanyahu, Defence Min Katz’s statement said that Israeli military struck "terrorist" HQ in Beirut's southern suburbs in response to Hezbollah's fire toward Israeli. Notably, this development comes amid an ongoing ceasefire between the two countries and continuing negotiations. Iran has not targeted Israel directly since a ceasefire in the wider war in April this year. Iran has long said any peace deal with U.S. would depend on a ceasefire also holding in Lebanon.
