Description

[Subtitles] A student-led project at Heinz Nixdorf Berufskolleg focused on machine retrofitting with condition monitoring, supported by ifm through the Young Innovators programme. The aim was to upgrade an existing machine tool to Industry 4.0 standards with minimal mechanical intervention. The students implemented a condition monitoring system using IO-Link-capable ifm sensors, including an OGD580 distance sensor, an LT3922 for level and temperature measurement, and a VSA005 vibration sensor with diagnostic electronics. These sensors enable continuous, real-time monitoring of critical machine parameters such as vibration, distance, and temperature. Thanks to IO-Link technology, the sensors were easily integrated and required minimal configuration, enabling efficient data acquisition and parameter setting, while ensuring system compatibility. This retrofit project demonstrates how existing equipment can be upgraded with advanced sensor solutions for predictive maintenance and data-driven process optimisation. 💡 Find out more about our success stories https://www.ifm.com/de/en/shared/topic/successstories/all ------ ▶️ Subscribe now: https://www.youtube.com/c/ifmgroup?sub_confirmation=1 ------ Follow ifm online: LinkedIn: http://linkedin.com/company/ifm Facebook: http://facebook.com/ifm.electronic Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ifm_electronic ------ #retrofit #ifm #conditionmonitoring
