Aviation HIGHLIGHTS: HEAVY CARGO Aircraft: AN-124 IL-76 B747 A340 DC-8 | Planespotting

Dear friends, before we continue with RIAT and Athens Flying Week, we want to show you some of our finest footage involving heavy cargo & charter planes! Antonov Design Bureau AN-124 UR-82072 ´BE BRAVE LIKE KHERSON´ is written on the nose of this specific AN-124, which visited Stuttgart Airport in 2023. This airframe was built for Rossiya in 1994 and was handed over to ADB five years later. The titles have been applied in 2023 and remind of the Ukrainian city Kherson, which got nearly completely destroyed due to the russian invasion in Ukraine & the destruction by the nearby Kakhovka Dam. Atlas Air 747-400 N464MC: During a cold but sunny january in 2021, this Atlas Air 747-400 was one of three Atlas Air flights carrying U.S. soldiers to the middle east and back to the US. This airframe started its life in 1992 flying for Japan Airlines as JA8088. After being stored in 2011, Atlas Air acquired this aircraft and was using the 747 as a charter for the U.S. Army & U.S. Air Force. It was leased to Garuda Indonesia twice before finalizing its career with Atlas Air in 2015. In September 2021 Line Number 902 was retired from active service and is now being used as a spare part aircraft in the desert of Arizona.
