Antimicrobials play a vital role in treating sick animals and protecting our food supply from harmful pathogens, but their overuse and misuse in human medicine and agriculture is driving the failure of critically important antibiotics through a process known as Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). From smallholder farms to large agricultural operations, farmers are struggling to access the right expert guidance and right treatments when it comes to preventing and managing illness in animals.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) are working together with veterinarians, governments and policymakers through a 'One Health' approach developing guidelines for the responsible use of antimicrobials in both human and animal health, strengthening integrated surveillance system, promoting the public-private partnership and enhancing public awareness of AMR across Indonesia.
Help us stay ahead of pathogens by sharing this video to encourage more people to join in the fight against AMR!
