At the World Premiere of Young Sherlock, showrunner Matthew Parkhill speaks to Colin Hart about balancing Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved canon with bold new storytelling. A lifelong fan of Sherlock Holmes, Parkhill reveals how he revisited the books, listened to the full Stephen Fry audiobook collection, and found his creative freedom by setting the series before the official canon begins. Describing the show’s creation as “sort of an alchemy,” Parkhill explains how the cast, costumes, music and Guy Ritchie’s irreverent energy came together to form something that feels both faithful and fresh.
