James McIntosh began with a five-day fasting challenge, and what has truly impressed me is his focus, discipline, and commitment to his health—he’s left nothing to chance and has thrown everything at it. I live in Brisbane and have been in education for 25 years. I spent 20 years in the Mary Valley before moving back to Brisbane, where I live with my two daughters and my mother. I think I first saw something about your program on Facebook. I didn’t sign up straight away—I like to ponder things. I thought, “Who is this bloke, and what’s this all about?” It intrigued me because I had already tried some unstructured intermittent fasting on my own. That meant skipping breakfast and lunch, then smashing into food when I got home—which didn’t deliver results. I was searching for structure, and this came along at the right time. Connection and mentoring. I knew I needed a support system. Looking back to when I was fit in school, I had structure—I played rugby, cricket, and had an active routine. Being part of a group, having guidance, and learning along the way has helped me stay consistent every day. I walked in with the mindset of not knowing what to expect, but ready for change. I showed up at 5 a.m. on Monday, thinking, “I’ll fast for a day and see how I go.” But meeting the group of guys on Monday morning gave me energy and momentum. By Tuesday, I was already thinking about checking in with the group the next morning, so that kept me focused. By Tuesday afternoon, I made the decision to go to bed early—and then suddenly, it was Wednesday. From that point on, I was mentally locked in. I sustained the fast until Saturday at 8 a.m. when I had a small grazing meal—just some green veggies and a small piece of meat. Normally, my meals were big plates of food, sometimes seconds. This was completely different. It felt like uncharted territory, but having the group support and knowing so many others had done it before kept me going. I lost just over 10 kilos in seven days. That’s incredible—10 kilos in one week. It was a mix of letting go of fear, pushing myself, and knowing that I was capable. For myself, my kids, my family. My father constantly reminds me, “Son, you’re carrying a bit of mud around the gut—what are you doing about it?” It’s for anyone. People at work have noticed and started asking questions. Some are supportive, others skeptical, but that’s normal. Honestly, I wish I’d seen your Facebook post 10 years ago. But I’m glad to be on the journey now. We know the human body is capable of incredible things. Someone fasted for over a year, and we see world-class athletes push their limits every day. James, you’ve won yourself a gold medal in fat loss. I’m looking forward to seeing your journey continue. You’re an example for other men who want to use fasting as a real solution for weight loss. By continuing intermittent fasting and longer fasts, you’ll experience a total body recomposition—losing unnecessary fat while gaining muscle. Over the next few months, we’ll see a complete metamorphosis of your body—and fasting is a huge part of that. Congratulations, James McIntosh—a true fat loss and fasting legend. We’re looking forward to seeing more from him and the other guys taking on the five-day challenge.
