Driving 1300km Across Maharashtra in 24 Hours | ft. Volkswagen Virtus GT

We set out to discover just how much of Maharashtra could be experienced in a single day, taking on an ambitious route that combined mountain passes, a prehistoric crater lake and winding hill roads — all behind the wheel of the Volkswagen Virtus GT DSG. The journey began in Mumbai before dawn and took us through the dramatic landscapes of Naneghat, across the unique geological wonder that is Lonar Lake, and onwards to the cool, scenic roads of Panchgani. Along the way, we experienced everything from bustling highways and ancient ghat sections to vast plateaus and serene hill stations, showcasing the remarkable diversity that Maharashtra has to offer. Covering nearly 1300 kilometres in under 24 hours required a car that could deliver performance, comfort and efficiency in equal measure. The Volkswagen Virtus GT DSG proved to be the perfect companion, effortlessly dispatching long highway stretches while remaining engaging on the more demanding roads. Its combination of strong performance, excellent stability and long-distance comfort made this challenge not only achievable, but genuinely enjoyable. What followed was a day of constantly changing scenery, memorable driving roads and some of Maharashtra's most fascinating destinations.
