Description
Why are these rocks smoking?
I just rented a Cat 308 to dig out the rocks in this basement.
But is it big enough?
If you look close you can see the rock start to move a little bit when I pry on it.
The 308 has so much force it actually cracked this rock in half.
Once it split, I was easily able to dig the rest of it out.
The bucket on this machine has some nasty teeth.
I’m not sure if these are Cat teeth or from someone else- does anyone know?
Next, I used the 308 to shave down the banks around the edges.
I used my 265 skid steer to clean up after the excavator.
Having both an excavator and a skid steer is a great combination for a job like this.
I could dig through hard material and move it out of the way.
Once I got close to final grade, I checked everything with a laser and spray-painted areas that were high with the number of inches I still needed to shave off.
I carefully scratched away these areas making sure not to dig down too deep.
They’re calling for thunderstorms in our area, so finally I used the blade on the excavator to slope the back of the basement so water will drain out if we get rain.
