They gave me the wrong beetle

#beetle #insects #shorts Yup, it was labeled as Miyama in Japanese and as I assumed it'd just be the local lucanus species of Japan, I couldn't have been more wrong. While I do doubt that this is another kind of lucanus, my knowledge has plenty of gaps and it's totally possible! My guess is that this little dude is a minor prosopocoilus inclinatus or the common sawtooth stag beetle of Japan. It might've been accidentally included in the bin that it came with because there was another larva that's pupating right now so it'd be interesting to see if that one turns out to be a lucanus (miyama) and this prosopocoilus was just a stowaway.
