**Award Winning** CGI 3D Animated Short Film: Red Gaia by Udesh Chetty. Featured on CGMeetup Gallery https://www.cgmeetup.com/gallery "Red Gaia" traces the existential journey of an AI android on Mars, focusing on how it interacts with the remnants of human civilization to understand and preserve them. The film shows the AI examining artifacts, accessing archived data, and simulating human social and religious practices to grasp their underlying meanings. It also portrays the AI’s efforts to sustain the last living tree on Mars, symbolizing its role in ecological preservation. Throughout, the AI's programming evolves, enabling it to question its purpose and the values it was designed to uphold, highlighting its journey towards a potentially autonomous identity. Production details and background on the project "Red Gaia" is my first narrative personal project after 20 years of honing my skills as a designer and visual effects artist. Dedicating nights and weekends, the film was almost entirely self made: researched, written, produced, directed, modeled, animated, lit, rendered and composited. It was a steep learning curb to say the least. Luckily I had a few friends help out in areas where I lacked expertise.
