Nevis Road

The Nevis Road is a scenic, roughly 70km 4WD backcountry route in Central Otago, New Zealand, linking Bannockburn (near Cromwell) and Garston. Known as NZ's highest public road, it traverses the Remarkables and Hector Mountains, offering historic gold mining sites, over 20 river crossings, and rugged, isolated terrain. The track is typically open from October to June but closes over winter due to snow. This video covers the trip we did with 4WD Expeditions based in Queenstown, crossing from Garston to Bannockburn.. Our host Del was a font of knowledge on the history of the area and the vehicle was perfect for the trip. Great communication in organising the trip and highly recommended as a must do adventure.
