Description

So, what’s the hardest job in construction? Pouring and finishing concrete? Framing- yeah, it’s brutal. What about running heavy equipment? I’ll tell you about a job that’s way harder than any of these… installing blinds for my wife. First of all, the way these things come packaged- it’s a major job just to get them out of the box. I might not have been first in my class in my high school- but I can guarantee I’m the first guy to open Levolor blinds with a chainsaw. And once they’re out of the box, you gotta cut through all types of cardboard, plastic, foam, pieces of tape, and everything else. Now the installation itself is not all that bad, it’s just tedious. I need to make a mark in 2 ½’ from the edge of the jamb, then trace out the hardware. I make sure to predrill, so I don’t split the trim. Next, I have to mount the hardware to the trim with these tiny screws that like to strip out. Luckily these blinds snapped right into the hardware, I’ve done some that I had to fight. I’ve hung over 30 blinds in this house, and these are the last ones. Finally, I carefully clean-up, and then the worst part of all… I’ve got to call for an inspection. Let me know- what do you think is the hardest job in construction? @hausplans #build #howto #construction #diy #contractor
