Description
Northern Cardinals visit my backyard feeding station year-round. They often swoop in and land on the wooden platform, frequently chasing other birds away from the bird seeds. They found some sunflower seeds inside a feeding tray and more seeds scattered on the wooden platform. Northern Cardinals can be bullies as they chase other birds and Cardinals from the feeders. As soon as a Cardinal sees another bird land at the feeding station, the Cardinal will quickly swoop in to chase the other birds away. The Cardinals make a growling sound when they're angry and also produce a soft chirping noise. The Cardinals were showing dominance over the other birds at the feeder.
I positioned a camera to capture footage of the birds visiting my backyard and landing on my platform feeder. This camera captures a close-up perspective of the birds as they feed, along with the various sounds and calls they make while perched on the bird feeder. I refill the bird feeders and add extra seeds to the platform when they get empty or run low. I generally feed wild birds a blend of sunflower seeds and various birdseed options. Most birds in my backyard seem comfortable and take their time savoring their food. Although the birds differ in size from big to small, most of them will share the seeds.
