Scuffles erupt in Beijing as White House aide knocked down in clash with media pack

US staffers, press members, and Chinese officials have been involved in a scuffle on the first day of President Donald Trump’s visit to Beijing. A White House aide was reportedly knocked down and then stepped on by China’s media pack rushing into Mr Trump’s bilateral meeting with Xi Jinping. A Secret Service agent was barred from the secure area because the agent was carrying a firearm at the Temple of Heaven in the afternoon. In the third incident, Chinese officials were captured on camera denying American press members from rejoining the presidential motorcade. Reporters and administration staff have been told to use burner phones and email addresses to protect data from hacking during the two-day summit.
