Description
The loud, low-pitched droning sounds of Bladder Cicadas calling in Queensland's tropical rainforest. Male Bladder Cicadas have large, hollow abdomens, which act as a resonating chambers to amplify their song. This species calls mainly at dusk and into the early evening, making these alien-like guttural drones.
The Bladder Cicada (Cystosoma saundersii) is a large species of cicada found on Australia's east coast. More examples of wildlife sounds and bird calls can be found on my website https://wildambience.com/wildlife-sounds/
