Description

Get straight to the action at (3:00) – or stick around as I break down some serious RC crawling theory. Firstly, I am no authority on Competition Rock Crawling.. but I started my radio control adventures in that very area. In this episode: • Why lightweight crawlers matter - with EXAMPLE (hah!) • W.R.C.C.A. (World Rock Crawling Competition Association) body rules explained • An up close look at building my https://www.ugrclab.net/ Outlaw Extreme rock crawler • I discuss why I find minimalism on a competition rock crawler to be ideal. • …And then, I attempt to crawl up my shop's insanely steep roof for the first time ever. I've been staring at the roof and dormer for a long time, and since I have to replace the shingles anyway - I figured today was a great day for this particular film. I knew the risks. I built it strong. I was certain that I would drive away from today.. This video turned out to be part tutorial, part epic fail, and all fun. If you’re into RC rock crawling, extreme builds, or just watching someone push the limits (and twist their rig like a taco), this one’s for you. 👉 Like, comment, and share if you’ve ever had a crawl go wildly off-plan. I would like to note: In WRCCA competition crawling, you are not required to run a full body at all. Let’s break it down to be crystal clear: ✅ BODY RULES – WRCCA COMP CRAWLING 🚫 NO scale body is required You can run no body, a partial body, or just a roll cage/chassis. Some rigs don’t even resemble vehicles — just purpose-built rock weapons. ✅ What is required: Chassis or structure must be present (so it’s not just raw electronics). If a body is used, it must be securely attached. Roll cages, carbon plates, and tube chassis are all valid. No minimum body size, no fender or roof requirement. ✅ In MOA (Class 3) or 2.2S Shafty, it’s common to see: Just a carbon skid plate + shock towers + electronics tray A minimalist Lexan hood panel or cab shell Lightweight 3D-printed or tube cages for servo/battery protection No interior, no lights, no scale add-ons — pure function ⚠️ Common Misunderstanding Some folks think you need a body for WRCCA — that’s only true in SORRCA. In comp crawling: No deduction for missing body No bonuses for realism Smaller = better (less drag, more clearance) 📜 WRCCA Rules Overview ✅ Legal Vehicle Requirements Must have four functioning wheels, all powered No wheelbase limit (but local clubs might impose one) Chassis must be present (no naked electronics builds) Body not required, but if used, it must be securely mounted All vehicles must operate under their own power #RCCrawler #RockCrawling #UGRCLabs #OutlawExtreme #RCFail #RCRoofChallenge #WRCCA #RCSparks #ExtremeRC #CrawlerBuild #RCAdventure
