Today my whole family learned a 500-year-old Chinese hand-pulled noodle craft from Master Chef Peter Song — and we only had one hour to figure it out. No pressure, right? Chef Peter has been pulling noodles for decades. He showed us everything: how to mix the dough by hand, the secret alkaline water that makes it stretchy, knife-shaved noodles, thin noodles, triangle noodles… and the wild part — when he was an apprentice, he had to make 500 bowls every single day. No wonder his hands move faster than my eyeballs! My kids, my husband, and I all took turns learning. Some noodles snapped, some stretched beautifully, and some… well… didn’t make it. But watching my family try this ancient skill together was honestly one of my favorite memories. And yes — in the end — we actually cooked and ate our own noodles!
