Cheap fix for broken Brembo clutch/front brake perches!︱Cross Training Adventure

Adventure riding in some rough remote regions? If you crash and break either hand lever mount it can be a long ride home without clutch or front brake! Back in 2022 I broke my clutch mount when my motorbike fell over at a standstill. At the time I wasn't aware you could buy repair kits so I bought a brand new Brembo clutch master cylinder unit from Sherco Australia for around AUD400. Ouch. Welcome to Cross Training Adventure, we are into all things dual sport and adventure on the east coast of Australia. I kept the old unit just in case any parts were useful. Then someone told me you can buy repair kits for Brembo clutch and front brake mounts. In Europe there's the Mitigator kit for USD62 or around AUD100. I opted for the Enduro Gear kit here in Australia which was AUD69. How does it work? See if your broken clutch mount will slide into the lower bracket. If not you will need to do some filing. Keen on adventure riding in Australia? Check out our vids. Then screw in the supplied bolt. Bolt on the top bracket. Screw on the supplied nyloc nut. And that's it! A five minute job. They also make brackets for the front brake perch as well. The brackets take up very little space so it's not a bad idea to have these in your tool kit if you ride in very remote regions. Of course a pair of Bark Busters is your best insurance, but you never know when that freak accident could still break your clutch or front brake mounts. I don't know what other manufacturers charge, but the complete master cylinder and clutch unit from Sherco Australia is now AUD530, so at this repair kit is great value. I just wish I knew it existed back in 2022 when I broke mine. TIG welding a broken cast aluminum clutch perch is possible but challenging, often requiring expertise to manage contaminants and prevent warping. It is frequently considered a temporary fix, as high-stress areas may not hold. The process involves thorough cleaning, high-frequency TIG, 4043 filler rod, and slow cooling to ensure strength. Of course if you are cashed up and into bling, go for it. All we are saying is there's also the budget option for adventure riding. And it won't hold you back. Why? We reckon it's 80% the rider and 20% the bike. So the Cross Training Adventure focus is just get out there and have fun on two wheels. Instead of obsessing over the latest blinged out Beemer, which tyres to fit or spending a fortune on your suspension or billet alloy gas cap.
