Traditional Clay Brick Manufacturing in Germany!

For over 100 years, the Grafschafter factory in Meckenheim, West-Germany, has produced clay bricks. This footage from 1988 shows us how clay is extracted, a column is pressed, the blocks are cut and dried, and the unfired bricks are placed in the ring kiln. In the ring kiln, the fire travels once around the entire kiln over the course of eight days. In two chambers, the green bricks are stacked and the fired bricks are removed; in the remaining twelve chambers, the bricks are preheated, fired, and cooled. WATCH Brick Making by Hand!
