Whether it be painting or crochet or even a sport, the humanistic tendency to fill our leisure time with a low-risk activity is what sets us apart from the animal world. Or is it? We tend to think that animals are merely driven by instinct and that everything they do has a specific reason behind it, but do you ever wonder if a bird gets bored? What do they do when they’re not looking for food or sleeping? There have been plenty of animals that have shown us that it’s not all about that 9 to 5 grind and sometimes we deserve playtime. Birds can be a fun animal. People cannot get enough of those viral videos of parrots holding silly conversations with their owners. But Parrots don’t just talk. They also like to sing! The famous Amazon parrot Groucho performs regularly in Disney World’s Animal Kingdom. He knows 7 songs by heart and is even given the freedom to choose which song he wants to sing. If you go on pretty much any social media site, you can find even more clips of parrots showing off their talents, to much critical acclaim. Parrots have a special way of vocalizing that has always amazed humans. Humans have a larynx on top of their trachea that allows us to speak the way we do. Parrots actually lack this feature. What they do have is a similar structure known as the syrinx. The syrinx is located at the bottom of their trachea, in their chest. When this moves, it allows them to make sounds and mimic what the humans (and sometimes animals) around them are saying. So with this special syrinx, parrots can also mimic singing, so long as the humans around them also have the pipes! Watch out for those parrots reaching the top of the charts! Keeping with the bird theme, here we have the bowerbird. This bird gets its name from the lovely bowers that they decorate in order to attract mates. And they have definitely earned that name! Bowerbirds will fly around and collect shiny or brightly colored items. They even have a favorite color: blue. They will end up collecting all sorts of items, from bottle caps to beautiful flowers, nothing is to be judged with these birds. They will decorate their bowers with these collections, seemingly creating a unique storefront to find their mates. Bowerbirds take this hobby seriously. They have no choice but to be cutthroat with their collections because competition can be tough. They can go as far as stealing right out of other bowerbird’s collections just to spruce up their own bowers. Once the decorating is done, it is time to wait. The female bowerbirds go around and find their favorite bower. Once they decide, they will enter it and find the male bowerbird. To add to the romance, the male bowerbird will then perform a dance while holding his favorite collection item in his mouth. That is a serious collector right there! There’s no hiding how intelligent dolphins are. There are various videos out there showing dolphins interacting with humans in ways that showcase their big brain prowess. But dolphins aren’t all just about showing off their intelligence. They like to play, too! Dolphins have been seen in the wild riding waves and wakes left behind by boats. So, is there any specific reasoning about why dolphins do this? Research has found that it could possibly be a way that dolphins bond socially! ANd on top of that, it could really just be a fun activity for them! Dolphins are much like us in the way they pass knowledge down to others. When one dolphin learns a new skill, they can share it with others around them, who can then pass that onto even more dolphins. So, kind of like a dolphin university of sorts. Dolphins are one of the more intelligent animals in the wild. They have shown researchers how capable they are in solving problems, interacting with others, and even language. They have a complex communication system that sets them apart from many other mammals. It’s no wonder they have such a passion for surfing! A cute, oceanic fan favorite is the beluga whales. They look like they have a smile on their face, their heads are squishy, and they can do cool tricks in the wild! Who wouldn’t like this white whale? If you needed any more reason to appreciate the beluga whale, listen up. This animal can do cool bubble tricks underwater. They have been seen creating streams of bubbles and, when they feel like showing off, bubble rings. They do this by blowing air out of their blowholes. đŸ”„ For the best top 10 wildlife and wild animals content around, check out some of our other content relating to predators and prey on our channel pet spot https://www.youtube.com/c/PetSpot #wildanimals #animals #petspot
