Description
Disney’s Frontierland at Magic Kingdom is already changing — and Piston Peak National Park is officially in progress.
With Tom Sawyer Island, the Rivers of America, and the Liberty Square Riverboat being removed to make room for a new Cars-inspired expansion, one of the most historic areas of Walt Disney World is being completely transformed. Disney says Piston Peak will continue the story of Frontierland with a national park theme inspired by the American West, the Rocky Mountains, waterfalls, geysers, off-road trails, and the world of Pixar’s Cars.
But for many Disney fans, this feels like the end of the Frontierland we grew up with. Frontierland was built around the American frontier — the Old West, Mark Twain, Tom Sawyer, riverboats, wilderness, cowboys, forts, trails, and the spirit of early American adventure. Now, with construction already underway and major classic areas closing, the question is: is Piston Peak National Park saving Frontierland… or destroying it?
