Description

Anthony Joshua faced Oleksandr Usek in what turned out to be an entertaining fight. Both men were caution from the opening bell, so we witnessed plenty of great defensive boxing though, neither fighter seemed to want to take any risks by throwning big punches and possibly leaving an opening for their oppenent. Even though Joshua had both a height and weight advantage, longer reach, as well as far more experience in the heavyweight division, it looks like Joshua was simply happy just to survive the rounds. Maybe he was overly concerned about losing his world boxing title belts, or he was giving Usek way more respect than he should have. As we entered the middle rounds of this scheduled 12 rounds bout, the fight continued pretty much the same, with both men moving quickly, defensively tossing out jabs, then covering up. Oleksandr Usek looked the better fighter up until this point, throwing more punches as well as actually connecting with more punches than Joshua. The only time it looked as though one of the fighters was about to hit the canvas was when Anthony Joshua slipped or possibly tripped over Usek's feet, sending Joshua tumbling bacnkwayds into the corner ropes, where he quickly recovered. The final rounds was much like the rest of the fight. Joshua, who is known to have a knockout punch just would not open up and throw some heavy punches or combinations of punches to get Usek out of there. Usek on the other hand was connecting hard, from time to time, catching Joshua off guard. As we entered the 12th and final round it was clear that Joshua needed to knock out Usek to win the fight or at least win via TKO, as Usek had won every round, winning on all Judges score cards. Still as round 12 was coming to an end, it was Usek who let go a few quick flurries of punches, whilst Joshua seemed content to have just survived the fight. As the 12th round ended, there was little hope, barring a miricle, that Joshua would retain his world title. The final judges score was read out giving Oleksandr Usek a unanimous Decision Win. Usek now becoming the new heavyweight boxing champion, with a well deserved win over a talented, yet, overly cautious, Anthony Joshua This is Daniel Nelson For Daniel Nelson's Best Of Boxing Subscribe, Like & Share Hit The Notification Bell Top Right Hand Corner of your screen for more fantastic Boxing Action and Commentary.
