What is a Star Tracker? by Austin James Jackson

Star tracking is quickly becoming the best way to capture highly detailed images of the night sky. While you definitely don’t NEED a star tracker to photograph the stars, using one will help you retain more details and less noise. The way it works is simple. Once properly aligned, the tracker rotates your camera in the opposite direction to Earth's rotation, causing the camera to move perfectly with the stars. This allows you to take a much longer exposure to gather more light, thereby helping you reduce the ISO and, in turn, get an image with much more detail.
