This poor seal was suffering from a severe, deep entanglement caused by a simple piece of string. The line had sliced incredibly deep into its neck, leaving a horrific wound. As we cut it free, we couldn’t help but ask the ultimate question: How do we stop this from happening? Finding the source of this plastic pollution is impossible. Did it come from a commercial fishing vessel, a cargo ship, a recreational boater, or did it just blow off a truck miles away? The truth is, holding the responsible parties accountable is a massive challenge when the evidence is just a nameless piece of trash.
