The Yamaha Aerox 155 was never just another scooter. With its 155cc liquid-cooled engine, R15-derived performance, and the ability to cross 100 kmph, it redefined what a sporty scooter could be in India. Now, Yamaha has taken that same formula and gone electric. In this video, we take a deep dive into the Yamaha Aerox electric (Aerox e) — and ask the big question: has going electric taken away what made the Aerox special? Visually, the Aerox e stays true to its roots. The sharp design, aggressive stance, wide tyres, and sporty proportions are all intact, making it stand out in traffic just like before. But practicality still takes a hit, with limited storage thanks to the battery setup. Under the skin is where everything changes. The petrol engine is replaced by an electric motor producing 12.6bhp and 48Nm, paired with twin removable batteries and a claimed range of 117 km. The performance is now instant, linear, and effortless — very different from the rev-happy character of the original Aerox. You also get modern EV features like ride modes, boost mode, traction control, TFT display with navigation, and Bluetooth connectivity, bringing it in line with rivals like the Ather 450 Apex and Ola S1 Pro. On the road, the Aerox e still delivers where it matters. The chassis remains unchanged, which means it continues to offer sharp handling, strong stability, and a genuinely sporty riding experience. However, the added battery weight and firm suspension slightly alter the feel, making it a bit less playful than before. So, is this still a proper Aerox?
