Description

Microsoft admits AI in Windows has been a mistake. It's taking Copilot out of Notepad as a start. In a letter from Pavan Davuluri, Microsoft's EVP of Windows and Devices, the company has announced it is, and I quote, "reducing unnecessary Copilot entry points" across Windows 11 - starting with Snipping Tool, Photos, Widgets, and yes, Notepad. They put AI in Notepad. And now they're taking it out. But here's the thing - this isn't just about Notepad. This announcement is Microsoft waving a white flag at its own user base. The update also promises fewer forced restarts from Windows Update, a vertical taskbar - which people have been asking for since Windows 7 - and a File Explorer that actually launches quickly. You know. Basic stuff. The Windows Insider community has been loud, and for once, it sounds like Redmond is actually listening. Whether this is a genuine course correction or just PR damage control? We'll see. But the fact that they're saying the quiet part out loud - that Copilot was showing up where it simply didn't belong - that's significant.
