Description
The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 was always a motorcycle that had more to offer than it could actually deliver — and for many of us, the tyres were the biggest reason why. Royal Enfield has now addressed exactly that with the new Guerrilla 450 Apex, a sportier, more committed version of the roadster that swaps the old block-pattern rubber for Vredestein Centauro ST+ tyres, tweaks the ergonomics with a new aluminium handlebar that sits 56mm lower and 57mm further away, and recalibrates the ride modes for a smoother, more direct throttle response. We headed to Guwahati to ride it on some of the finest twisties in the region to find out if these changes finally unlock the Sherpa 450 platform's real potential.
The Apex is available in three colourways — Apex Red, Apex Black, and Apex Green — all of which give the Guerrilla a cleaner, more premium look than before. The removable seat cowl, colour-matched headlight cowl, and removal of the fork gaiters sharpen the bike's roadster identity considerably. The navigation system has also been updated: Android users can now lock their phone screen and still get full-screen maps on the instrument cluster, and the app can now load GPX files — a welcome addition for touring riders. Ride mode memory across ignition cycles is also a small but appreciated touch.
Priced from ₹2.49 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory) for the Apex Red and ₹2.56 lakh for Apex Black and Apex Green, the Guerrilla 450 Apex makes a strong case as one of the most capable roadsters in its price bracket. It now sits comfortably in the same conversation as the KTM 390 Duke and the TVS Apache RTR 310 — and that is saying something.
