Around 8,000 satellites are orbiting Earth right now. But how do they stay in orbit? Satellites stay in orbit thanks to them being launched into space at such speeds that it balances out the gravitational pull of Earth, allowing it to orbit Earth. Over time though, satellites fall back down to Earth due to hitting atoms in space, such as due to our atmosphere.
