• Chuck Norris was an American martial artist, actor, and pop culture icon who achieved legendary status through his unbeatable on screen persona and the viral “Chuck Norris facts” memes. Born Carlos Ray Norris in Ryan, Oklahoma, he had a shy and non athletic childhood. He joined the Air Force in 1958 and served as an Air Policeman. While stationed in South Korea, he earned his first black belt in Tang Soo Do, which led to one of the greatest martial arts careers in history. He was a six time undefeated world professional middleweight karate champion, created his own discipline called Chun Kuk Do (The Universal Way), and trained celebrities like Steve McQueen, Priscilla Presley, and Bob Barker how to fight. His film career was sparked by his friendship with Bruce Lee, which led to their iconic fight scene in The Way of the Dragon (1972). He is survived by his wife, Gena O’Kelley, and five children.
