You Will Not Believe These Fossils Got FUSED Together‼️😱 Some fossils in Oregon’s Astoria Formation can look like nature smashed a whole ocean graveyard into one rock. You can find shells, clams, snails, barnacles, crab pieces, and sometimes totally different species packed together like they got glued into one fossil chunk. That happened because the Astoria Formation is made of ancient marine sedimentary rock, mostly layers of sandstone, siltstone, mudstone, and volcanic ash that built up on the seafloor millions of years ago during the Miocene. As animals died, waves, currents, storms, and shifting sediment could pile their remains together. Then minerals slowly cemented everything into rock, locking different species side by side like a frozen snapshot of an ancient Oregon ocean. So when you crack open a fossil rock on the coast, you might not be looking at one animal.
