A witness gasped in horror as a motorbike SLAMMED into Coco, trampling this kitten into the dust. Bleeding from her mouth and nose, Coco tried to get up and run—before she collapsed into the dirt, unresponsive. Coco is now hospitalized, and this is only the beginning. Our team is scrambling to raise funds for her continued care and urgent surgery. This is more than we can manage alone. After the witness reported the situation to our team, we leaped into action to find Coco and get her to the hospital. As we arrived at the scene, the sight that greeted us was gut-wrenching. Coco lay stretched out in the dirt, panting. Blood coated her mouth. We knew there wasn’t a second to lose. We gathered Coco into our arms and raced her to our trusted veterinarian. At the hospital, X-rays revealed that Coco’s femur had snapped clean in half. It was so bad that the broken end of the bone was pressing against Coco’s skin, threatening to pierce through. We can’t even begin to imagine how much pain she must have felt. Right now, Coco can’t walk or bear weight on her broken leg, and every movement risks worsening the injury. Her veterinary team wants to move forward with surgery as soon as possible. Otherwise, Coco’s mobility and quality of life could be permanently compromised. Right now, she is being stabilized as doctors prepare to repair the damaged femur. We’ve done everything we can to get Coco this far, but the cost of her surgery is more than our nonprofit rescue can handle alone. This month, we’ve been slammed with back-to-back medical cases, and at this rate, our rescue budget will be wiped clean before we can recoup the cost of care.
